Jill Alper

Jill Alper heads the Dewey Square Group's campaign practice.

A Democratic strategist who has worked with campaigns in all 50 states, Alper is a veteran of statewide, federal and six presidential campaigns. She currently advises Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan and was recognized by The American Association of Political Consultants as the “Best Democratic Campaign Manager” in the nation for Granholm in 2006. She also currently advises the Clinton for President Campaign as well as numerous campaigns and progressive electoral organizations.

Alper served as a consultant and electoral strategist to the Kerry/Edwards ‘04 campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). During the 2000 political cycle, Alper was a strategist for Squier/Knapp/Dunn, a top Democratic political consulting firm, where she conducted paid-media planning and Coordinated Campaign strategies for the DNC and the Gore/Lieberman Presidential Campaign.

In 1998, Alper served as the DNC's political director and from 1994 through 1996 she was the DNC’s national Coordinated Campaign Director, running field operations for the entire democratic ticket during the Clinton Gore re-election campaign. In 1997, she was the Director of the Presidential Inaugural Gala.

Alper's extensive national and statewide campaign experience also includes concentrated work in the state of Michigan, where she has designed strategies for ten successful state-wide general election and primary campaigns, including Sen. Carl Levin in 1990. Alper also served as state director for Clinton-Gore in 1992 and as a strategist for the Presidential campaigns of Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and Clinton.

Alper’s government experience includes positions in communications and public affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. Her professional accomplishments have been recognized by Campaigns and Elections Magazine, the Association of American University Women, and the Women’s Information Network, which she co-founded in 1989.
