Cynthia Jasso Rotunno
Cynthia Jasso Rotunno is a principal at the Dewey Square Group working in
the State/Local Practice and the Emerging Markets Practice. Before joining
Dewey Square, Rotunno served as the Executive Director of the Don’t Count
Us Out Coalition – an advocacy group of minority leaders, broadcasters,
independent actors, writers, and producers concerned about the undercounting
and under-representation of minorities in the TV ratings business. Rotunno
has more than 16 years experience as a minority affairs specialist building
public policy coalitions and strategic alliances between elected officials,
community and corporate stakeholders at the federal, state and local levels.
Rotunno served the Clinton/Gore Administration from 1996-2001 in various capacities
including: Special Assistant to the President & Chief of Staff for Political
Affairs Office at the White House (1997-2001); Deputy Director for Government,
Business and Community Affairs on the 53rd Presidential Inaugural Committee
(1997); Deputy Public Liaison Director on the 1996 Clinton/Gore Campaign.
Rotunno is a campaign veteran serving three tours at the Democratic National
Committee from 1994-1996, 2001-2002, and in 2004 general election as Southwest
Field Director. In 2003, she served as a Deputy Campaign Director on the Joe
Lieberman Presidential Campaign. She gained her political management
skills in the DNC Campaign & Base Vote Divisions, Latino Outreach, and
Chairman’s Office.
In local government and non-profit capacities, Rotunno served as the scheduler
for Congressman Bob Filner (CA-51) (1993-94), and as the national operations
director for LULAC National Educational Service Centers from (1990-93). Prior
to moving to Washington DC, she was an Investigator at the Consumer Protection
Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office (1989).
