Leslie Miller
Leslie Miller leads the Dewey Square Group’s California practice in
San Francisco, implementing communications and grassroots strategies.
Miller, whose background is centered on work in public affairs and communications,
is a former producer for NBC News in Washington, D.C. She covered the 1996
and 1998 elections, Congress and the Clinton impeachment hearings.
In 2000, Miller provided strategic communications counsel for Democracy
Network (DNet), an interactive website that directly connected candidates with
voters. In her role, Miller advised candidates around the country in online
campaign strategies. As part of Grassroots Enterprise, DNet won numerous awards
for its pioneering role in launching the industry of online public affairs.
While there, Miller applied political campaign technology to the private
sector, building a new platform for companies and associations to
interact with various, targeted constituencies.
At DSG, Miller has continued to specialize in strategic and communications
counsel, as well as issue management and coalition building, working
with Fortune 500 companies to develop internal community affairs programs
in addition to advising policy leaders on effective outreach strategies.
In 2005 Miller advised the San Diego City Council in positioning themselves
effectively in the wake of the city’s shift from a Council-Manager government
to a “Strong-Mayor” form during a period of unprecedented turmoil
in city politics.
