Jua Johnson

Jua JohnsonJua Johnson is a senior associate with the Dewey Square Group’s grassroots practice where he has worked with Fortune 500 communications, aerospace and technology companies.  Jua joined the firm in 2005 as a member of the state and local team bringing political and advocacy experience.

In 2004, Jua served as the director of African American Affairs for John Kerry’s presidential campaign, coordinating those day-to-day operations.  He also coordinated message materials for key campaign offices throughout the country.

In 2003, Jua served as deputy director of African American outreach for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) where he helped develop strategic plans to mobilize voters for the upcoming 2004 presidential election.  The historic election of 2004, saw two million more African Americans cast ballots that year than the previous presidential election cycle.

From 1998 to 2003, Jua was a senior producer for Black Entertainment Television (BET), managing live television specials and town hall meetings including BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley and features on Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Television and the AIDS epidemic.  He also worked on the popular BET series Hits from the Streets.
