Karin Johanson

Karin Johanson recently returned to the Dewey Square Group after managing the historic 2012 campaign of United States Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).

As a principal at DSG from 2007 to 2011, Karin provided her expertise in grassroots organizing, political strategy and campaign management to a diverse roster of clients. These included Democratic party committees, telecommunications companies, labor unions, LGBT organizations and financial reform coalitions.
Prior to joining DSG Karin worked with Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) as the executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006.  There she designed the largest congressional voter turnout operation in history, an $11.5 million effort covering 36 congressional districts.  The Washington Post called her one of the key architects of the Democratic takeover of the House.

Karin has more than 25 years of electoral and legislative experience, including: serving as Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Congressman Steny Hoyer.

In 2004 she was Florida State Director for America Coming Together, where she created and managed a massive statewide voter turnout campaign.  She is also a long time strategist for EMILY’s List, a political organization dedicated to electing Democratic women to office.
