Fred is leader of Dewey Square Group’s Sports Business Practice, which provides public affairs, strategic communications, and other services to clients.
Fred’s clients have included the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, the National Fitness Foundation, and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. He has generated positive coverage for clients at top national media outlets, including The Washington Post, USA Today, ESPN, Bloomberg, the Associated Press, CBSSports.com, ABCNews.com, Sports Business Daily, and the Players’ Tribune.
Fred founded the practice after a distinguished career at The Associated Press, where he created an innovative beat on the intersection of sports and politics. He’s also written for the Washington Post, New York Times, POLITICO Magazine, and The Atlantic; and has authored several books on sports. George F. Fred is a native of Queens, N.Y., and a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two sons.
