Prior to joining Dewey Square Group, Sam worked at the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Therapy Development Institute as a lab assistant. There, his role was to support researchers in the pursuit of a cure for ALS. Sam was also a Young Faces of ALS Ambassador- A spokesperson for the fight against ALS, raising money and awareness for those diagnosed with the terminal illness.

Sam also worked as an organic vegetable farmer in rural Vermont. While working on the farm, he took an interest in food policy and sought a means to raise awareness for positive food policy practices.
